AbleToPlay Partners with Cephable to Bring Customizable Voice and Motion Controls to More Gamers
We're excited to partner with Cephable to help raise awareness of their accessibility-enhancing technology.
Over 2025, we've heard stories from thousands of gamers using AbleToPlay about what goes into making a gaming setup that works for them. Sometimes it's adaptive hardware controllers, sometimes it's managing fatigue, and sometimes it's special software that acts as a bridge for input devices.
One solution that repeatedly came up in feedback is called Cephable. We were surprised to learn that a significant amount of the AbleToPlay Community uses Cephable to help provide inputs to games using voice, head movement, diction, and quick actions. We did our diligence across the accessible gaming space, looked at alternatives, and arrived at what we feel is a fair evaluation: this could unlock gaming for many more people and is aligned with our mission to make accessible gaming universal.
We're excited to announce that AbleToPlay has partnered with Cephable to raise awareness of their privacy-focused adaptive control and automation technology to more gamers and Occupational Therapists than ever before. This partnership means more ways to play, more games to access, and more control in the hands of players who need it most.
What is Cephable?
For many players, Cephable shows up first as a new way to control a game. Cephable makes those setups possible by letting players combine different inputs and shape their controls around how they play.
At its core, Cephable is a private, customizable, on-device AI platform that works alongside your games and apps. Using inputs like voice commands, dictation, head movement, and quick actions, players can perform the in-game actions they’d normally use in ways that work best for them and their setup.
It can into an existing setup and adapts as players do, making it easier to adjust controls based on play style, energy levels, or the kind of game being played that day.
And it goes beyond games. Because Cephable works across 400+ apps, many players use the same setups across chat, streaming tools, and everyday computer control.
Because everything runs locally, your data stays completely private. No cloud processing. No external tracking. Just fast, responsive control that stays on your device.
“The game [NBA2K] is a combination of using my hand to do the movement with the arrow keys and then my voice for other. There are buttons that are actually primarily on the left side of the keyboard, so I am literally not able to play this game at all on my computer [because of my disability] without using Cephable specifically, so that was really really cool.”
- Meredith, gamer using Cephable, and AbleToPlay Community Member

Here's what makes it special:
- Replace or augment your keyboard and mouse or controller with voice commands, camera controls, or quick actions.
- Set up custom voice commands like "reload," "open inventory," or "jump" mapped directly to in-game controls.
- Use head movement to control your cursor, click, or activate abilities.
- Companion app with quick actions for fast access during gameplay or streaming.
"We built Cephable because control shouldn't be one-size-fits-all. Whether you're gaming with your voice, head movement, or quick action buttons, Cephable is about giving players more ways to play on their terms."

Cephable joins our growing network of partners committed to accessible gaming, including the World Institute on Disability, Safe in our World, the Neil Squire society, and Games for Change. Each partnership we announce represents our shared commitment to breaking down barriers and expanding what's possible in gaming.
Our teams spent months in conversation, exploring how Cephable's technology aligns with AbleToPlay's mission and values, and diligently researching what kind of AI powers it – and we're pleased to share our findings. Cephable's on-device AI (as opposed to regular "gen-AI") runs directly on a user's device, so inputs are processed locally instead of being sent to the cloud. That keeps everything private, responsive, and supports a more sustainable approach to AI by minimizing reliance on always-on cloud infrastructure. In other words – no boiling the oceans with nefarious data centers, Cephable strictly runs on your local machine.
Hearing directly from gamers in both our communities ultimately convinced us that Cephable is the right partner for our exciting plans in 2026. Time and again, players told us that Cephable enabled them to play games in ways that traditional controllers — and even other adaptive controllers — simply couldn't match.
"Our team at AbleToPlay is totally focused on what actually makes a difference and empowers gamers, and that's why Cephable stands out to us. If we're going to stand by a solution, it has to be something that genuinely bridges a gap of access for a wide range of accessibility needs. We feel that Cephable hits that high bar, and we're excited to partner with them."

The AbleToPlay and Cephable Partnership
We have an exciting year ahead planned for AbleToPlay. We'll be working with the Cephable team to bring more information about adaptive inputs to AbleToPlay game pages, in addition to making more information available on all game pages.
We'll also explore ways to bring adaptive gaming to more gamers through our ongoing work with hospitals, offering Cephable as an adaptive aid that opens up more games on AbleToPlay to Occupational Therapists, doctors, rehabilitative specialists, and patients alike.
